Scar Revision
Before & After
Case Details
This is a 61-year-old woman who was referred to me for scar revision in New York City. She needed an abdominal wall reconstruction after a major intra-abdominal catastrophe. She had a large wound that had been allowed to heal on its own over the course of several months. I decided that the best way to reconstruct her was to put the muscles of her tummy back where they belonged. In doing so, I was also able to remove the large scar on her tummy and reapproximate her skin back where it had originally come from. This also allowed me to put her belly button back where it belonged.
Patient Age:
61
Motivation for Scar Revision:
Large ventral hernia causing a tremendous bulge that was clearly visible through her clothes
Revision Technique:
Separation of components
No mesh
Anesthesia:
General anesthesia
Recovery:
2 weeks
