C-Section Scar Revision
Before & After
Case Details
This is a 26-year-old woman who had a cesarean section several years ago and was unhappy with the scar she was left with. It was wide, thickened in some areas, and indented. She reported that the contour deformity would actually show through bathing suits.
The first picture shows the scar before and 2 years after the scar revision was performed. The remaining photos were taken only 6 weeks after the revision, so the new scar had not yet gotten a chance to fade.
The only modality that would improve the appearance of this indented and deforming mark was complete scar removal and creation of a new scar wtih the tissues lined up better. It is simply a matter of using careful technique with attention to repairing the various layers as they normally are anatomically.
Dr. Sterry performed this scar revision using local anesthetic in his New York City office. The photos shown are at 6 weeks after surgery. We expect the scar color to fade with time, and she will hopefully be left with a fine white line that will be difficult to see in about 8 months.
