Eyelid Surgery Case #210
Before & After
Case Details
This is a 50 year old woman who is healthy and fit, but told me that her friends started to ask her if she was "tired" every day. Eventually, she decided to ask me about what we can do for her. While nobody wants to think that they need surgery, I explained that there are some things we don't really have any control over - like aging or the way we change as we age.
The pictures shown above are at the 1 year postoperative point. She did very well and I don't think there is any evidence that she had plastic surgery at all.
Upper eyelid surgery is fairly simple and I generally do it with the patients awake using local anesthesia only. It is very well tolerated and people tend to recover to the point that friends and family don't realize anything was done in as little as 2 weeks.
Lower eyelid surgery is a little more complicated and I use several different techniques depending on what I'm trying to accomplish for the patient. Most people opt for a little IV sedation with an anesthesiologist in my AAAASF certified operating room. The recovery is also pretty quick - although I do have the occassional patient that gets a bruise that lingers for several weeks...but most people are very presentable by 2 weeks as well.
